East and Gulf Coast Container Port Workers are on Strike!
During the last several weeks, the National Aquaculture Association has been working with, and supporting efforts, by an Agricultural Transportation Coalition to: 1) encourage the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) to extend their Master Contract and continue to negotiate and 2) asking the President and his Executive Agencies to forestall a strike.
However, the strike went into effect at midnight. The ILA and USMX are not talking nor listening to each other. When the strike may be resolved is entirely unknown.
The NAA suggests that if members are needing or are low on equipment or chemicals likely to be imported through Atlantic or Gulf coast container ports, then contact your suppliers for an update on availability.
